Project Profile: Bend Police Station
Real Story: Real Building: Using Energy-Efficient Mercer Windows

Project: Bend Police Station
Location: Bend, Oregon
Contractor: Kirby Nagelhout Construction
Architect: Ralston Architects

Project Description: Located in the Central Oregon town of Bend, the new police station needed to perform both in the bright winter cold and clear blue summer heat. Bend is at a higher elevation with a lot of sunshine year round, so the ability to handle solar gains was also of importance to the design team.

Mercer Window Solution: The architect chose Mercer’s thermally broken painted metal windows with a #119 nail fin and PPG’s Solarbronze exterior glass and Sungate 500 Low E interior glass provided the energy efficiency needed with proven solar control. The result was a high performance metal window system in the new police station.

Glazing Contractor: Alpine Glass.
