Project Profile: Hillsboro Clean Water Services
Real Story: Real Building: Using Energy-Efficient Mercer Windows

Project: Clean Water Services Administration Building Addition
Location: 2480 S.W. Hillsboro Way, Hillsboro, OR
Owner: Clean Water Services District
Architect: SRG Partnership

Project Description: The project added 38,000 square-feet of new construction to the Clean Water Services' Water Quality Lab and remodeled the existing office space. The new and revised facility consolidates permitting, laboratory, engineering and administrative functions from four facilities into a single location. The project was designed to demonstrate the District's commitment to the long-term health of the Tualatin River Watershed and promote environmentally sustainable building and development practices.

Mercer Window Solution: The project used Mercer's 2.0 Series aluminum window system, an energy efficient thermal break aluminium frame window using Cardinal's Low-E 272, offering tremendous U-Factor and SHGC performance. Mercer has provided support for the project LEEDS effort. Because of the glass' high visible light properties, the window system is designed to provide natural lighting without "hot spots" to work throughout the building. Clerestory windows operate automatically in conjunction with the HVAC system to provide natural ventilation throughout the structure.
